The Publicity Club of New England is hosting a meeting, “Meet the Technology Editors: Today’s Multi-Channel Content Producers,” Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Cambridge Innovation Center, One Broadway, 14th Floor, in Cambridge, Mass. Dinner and networking begin at 6 p.m., followed by the panel discussion at 6:30 p.m.

Established in 1959, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is today the main source of multilateral financing for economic, social, and institutional development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It provides loans, grants, guarantees, policy advice, and technical assistance to the public and private sectors of its borrowing member countries.

The chief of the Communications Management Division reports to the external relations advisor. The basic function of the Office of External Relations (EXR) is to advise the president and management of the bank in matters of public information and communications in order to assure that stakeholders are kept adequately informed of the bank’s activities and role to further economic development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Communications Management Division (CMG) is in charge of developing communication strategies for internal departments and external actors.

Key Responsibilities:

The Communications Management Division chief position will:

· Develop strategic communication strategies for internal units of the bank and coordinate the bank’s outreach to external constituencies, including include media organizations, civil society, governments, the private sector and local communities;
· Work closely with other bank departments to develop and coordinate strategy for shaping the perception of the IDB’s role in Latin America and the Caribbean;
· Manage the bank’s Public Information Center, administer the Disclosure of Information policy, and conduct other public information liaison activities;
· Oversee the development of public awareness campaigns and programs and other communications products to advance the bank’s development agenda;
· Inform management and staff of important internal events and disseminate economic, social, and political news from the international and local media related to Latin America and the Caribbean;
· Display a solid understanding of the bank’s mission and operations;
· Exercise diplomacy, business acumen and political savvy.

Eligibility Criteria and Technical Competencies:

· Education: Advanced university degree at a master’s level in economics, communication, journalism, public/social policy or other relevant fields.

· Experience: 10 to 15 years’ international work experience relevant to the duties of the position. Proven experience and understanding of the region. Broad knowledge of the media in member countries. Strong professional background and proven management track record coordinating journalists and/or press officers in an international environment in the economic, political and social fields is a must.

· Languages: Oral and written fluency in at least two of the bank’s official languages (one being English or Spanish) and preferably working knowledge of a third.
