Is My Spam Filter a Problem?
Posted by Dan Forbush on October 2nd, 2006We’re all grateful for spam filters, but they can be a nuisance when trying to receive ProfNet queries. If you’re failing to receive queries at your email inbox, one of the first theories we’ll ask you to investigate is whether your spam filter may be blocking our feed.
Fortunately, since we’re now also delivering queries to your own Web-based ProfNet Inbox, the email feed is not nearly so crucial. So long as you can log into the system, you can access your queries. In fact, you may browse them in real time the moment we send them.
But back to spam filters. If you’re not receiving your ProfNet Search feed, ask your company’s helpdesk to be sure that profnet@prnewswire.com is added to your organization’s “white list.” This will mark our query feed as “pre-approved” and worthy of entering your inbox.
Another important step: decrease feed frequency by going to My Feeds and clicking on the email delivery tab to the far right. Some spam filters recognize spammers by the frequency of distribution.
If you’re receiving your ProfNet feed in a Yahoo! or Google account and you see that you’re receiving our feeds in your spam folder rather than your regular inbox, mark the message as “Not Spam.”
All email clients enable you to do this in a slightly different way. Send us a note at productsupport@prnewswire.com and we’ll be glad to forward to you individualized instructions for AOL, Yahoo!, Hotmail, Gmail, Mozilla Thunderbird, Netscape Mail 7.0 and higher, Outlook 2003, and Outlook Express.
In the meantime, if you’re able to log into ProfNet 3.0, please remember that you may browse and manage queries directly in your new ProfNet Inbox. Your email feed is no longer crucial to using the ProfNet service.
